Acid Reflux Friendly Snack Ideas
Hummus and veggies
If you can tolerate raw veggies try some hummus with carrot sticks, celery sticks, cucumbers, or snap peas! You can also try a sweeter hummus flavor with apples for a filling snack.
Applesauce
Applesauce was my go-to snack during my transition off antacids. I would keep a couple of travel pouches in my bag to snack on whenever I needed them. Applesauce is also really soothing during a flare-up. Try to avoid applesauce with added sugar as that may aggravate your symptoms.
Whole grain rice cake with almond butter and banana Slices
This is perfect when you’re looking for a filling snack! Use either a rice cake or a whole wheat piece of toast with some almond butter (if you can handle nuts) and a banana. I found bananas to be really soothing during my flare-ups.
Hard-boiled eggs
Hard-boiled eggs are a fantastic way to get more protein into your diet without acid reflux. However, if you are sensitive to eggs be careful. Eggs don’t typically trigger acid reflux but they can trigger inflammation in some people, so do what works for you.
Sugar-free Pudding with dairy-free milk
If you’re looking for a sweet treat give sugar-free pudding with dairy-free milk a try. I like using either almond or oat milk in my pudding.
Jello
Jello is another soothing food that may help with your flare-ups. I would recommend trying a sugar-free flavor first to avoid the sugar potentially aggravating your symptoms further.
Smoothies
Smoothies are a great grab-and-go snack that is packed with fruits and vegetables but can also be really soothing for your acid reflux. Check out my favorite acid reflux-friendly smoothies.
